Meeting: Meetings are held at 3:00 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at 2201 Hogback in Ann Arbor.
Authority:Resolution 89-0341 approved an agreement between Washtenaw County and the Michigan State Police creating a Central Dispatch Authority for Washtenaw County to facilitate efforts to centralize the dispatch of law enforcement, fire, ambulance and emergency services.
Compensation:Commissioners receive per diem and mileage reimbursement.
Membership:The Authority shall be governed by a Board of Directors ("Board"), to be composed of at least eight (8) members. Those eight shall consist of: A representative of cities and villages within Washtenaw County, A representative of the general public, A representative of the Michigan Department of State Police, A Washtenaw County Board Commissioner, A representative of the Washtenaw County Chapter of the Michgian Townships Association, A representative of the Washtenaw County Ambulance Contractor, A representative of the Washtenaw County Sheriffs Department, The Washtenaw County Prosecutor. Each Board Member shall have an alternate who may attend all Board meetings and may vote in the absence of the Member. The alternate shall be appointed in the same manner as the member, and shall serve for the same term. With the exception of the Board member representing the general public and the Board member representing cities and villages within Washtenaw County, the Board member shall be selected by the entity being represented. The Board member representing the general public and the Board member representing cities and villages within Washtenaw County shall be selected by the other members of the Board at the first meeting of the Board and thereafter as a vacancy in this Board member's position may occur by expiration of term or otherwise. The representative of the cities and villages within Wshtenaw County, and the representative of the general public, shall be selected for an original and subsequent terms of three years each. The Board members filling the six other seats may be removed at will by the entity they represent. Central Dispatch of the system and technical matters shall be set (within limits set by the Board, this Agreement, implementing agreements, other agreements binding the Authority, and state and federal law) by a Technical Advisory Committee of at least seven (7) members. The Technical Advisory Committee is seven members representing respectively: City of Ann Arbor Police Department, Michigan Department of State Police - Ypsilanti Post, Washtenaw County Ambulance Contractor, Washtenaw County Fire Mutual Aid Association, Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department, Two (2) local public safety agencies within Washtenaw County selected by the Board. Each representative shall be appointed by the represented entity and shall serve at its will. The Authority, through its Board, shall create additional seats on the Committee from time to time as it deems appropriate to meet the needs of the Authority.
