Meeting:
Meeting information forthcoming.

Authority:
Resolution 04-0200 dissolved the Citizen's Advisory Council for Children in the Family Court and created a Citizen's Advisory Council to the Juvenile Drug Court. In recognition of the broad and devastating effects of drug abuse on youth, families, and community safety, as well as the lack of effective, intensive treatment services for drug abusing youth in our community, the Trial Court is led the development of a Juvenile Drug Court in Washtenaw County. The Juvenile Drug Court model emphasizes 1) a coordinated continuum of treatment; 2) intense supervision of probationers; 3) strong judicial oversight; 4) a broad array of rewards and sanctions; and 5) a team-based approach to providing services, opportunities, and oversight of youth. Preventing youth crime, holding delinquent youth accountable, and providing opportunities for at-risk youth to participate in community life in a positive, healthy manner are important community goals. The Court values community input regarding this effort.

Compensation:
No compensation provided at this time.

Membership:
The Board of Commissioners appoints three (3) representatives to the Council for staggered terms of 3 years each. The Trial Court also makes three (3) appointments for 3 year terms. Total membership on the council is 6 representatives.
