Meeting:
The Head Start Policy Council meets monthly on the second Tuesday at 6:00 pm at 1661 Leforge Rd., Ypsilanti.

Authority:
A requirement of the Head Start grant and bylaws of the Head Start Policy Committee.

Compensation:
Members receive per diem and mileage.

Membership:
Membership is based on the number of children in their centers; one alternate is elected for every two Parent Representatives, except for Whitmore Lake, which has one Parent Representative and one Alternate. For Parent Representatives: 1-60 children = 1 member; 61-120 children = 2 members; 121-180 children = 3 members; 181-240 children = 4 members; 241-300 children = 5 members. For Community Representatives: 0-150 children = 1 member; 151-250 children = 2 members. The two County Commissioners serve as at-large Community Representatives. No Head Start staff is represented on the Policy Council.
