JOB SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of a higher classified employee the Contact Tracer may use a web-based client resource management (CRM) platform to call all contacts of anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 to document a symptom check, refer them for testing according to established protocols, and provide them with instructions for quarantine. Contact Tracers are required to follow all scripts, policies, and procedures provided, and comply with training regarding confidential information related to personal information.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Call contacts of newly diagnosed patients.
  • Communicate with contacts in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Collect and record information on symptoms into the CRM.
  • Provide contacts with approved information about Washtenaw County quarantine procedures, and if appropriate, refer them to testing according to protocol and/or to a COVID-19 Care Resource Coordinator for social resources.
  • Contact Tracers will follow the training to inform contacts about the importance of quarantine and what to do if symptoms develop. They are not permitted to deviate from the training or provide information that is not included in the training.
  • Maintain daily contact with supervisor.
  • Performs other work as assigned.

  • Strong technical skills including word processing, spreadsheet development and management, and database management, with an emphasis on proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Washtenaw County Resident preferred and familiarity with Washtenaw County┐s geography; cities/towns/locations required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • The candidate selected for this position may be subject to a criminal background check.

  • Hours may include evenings and weekends.
  • Contact Tracers will be required to use their own computer and electronic equipment and have access to a reliable high-speed internet.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Possession of valid Michigan Vehicle Operator's license or State issued identification card.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Duties require use a computer, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech sufficient to communicate over the telephone.

EDUCATION
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current student or graduate from a college of public health, medical science, college of nursing, or school of medicine, or related degree, are desirable.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of six (6) months experience in public service or customer service preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must live in the State of Michigan
  • Must be able to commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week.
