JOB SUMMARY
|
Under the supervision of a higher classified employee, the community liaison independently answers calls, questions, emails and inquiries on COVID-19 related matters. Reviews and provides feedback on business plans for COVID-19 response, provides guidance to businesses with a COVID-19 positive individual and communicates internally with other members of the COVID-19 response team to ensure rapid, accurate response. Provides information to businesses, business owners, employees, and members of the general public by telephone and email. Responds to COVID-19 related complaints about local facilities, including making recommendations for enhanced enforcement of non-compliant facilities. Provides countywide consultation and education on COVID-19 mitigation. Encourages the promotion and maintenance of health and the prevention of disease and disability.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Essential Duties:
|

Works closely with Case Investigation Team to verify cases and provide guidance to the public.
|

Works closely with Contact Tracing team and refers close contacts for quarantine and monitoring. May participate in contact tracing activities, as needed.
|

Maintains awareness of community. Uses professional skills to identify individuals and groups whose behaviors place them at risk for health problems. Advocates for individuals and populations both within the human services department and the community.
|

Informs individuals in the community of current human services departments¿ services, concerns, and goals through group presentations, personal contacts, written materials, and through the media. Participates in the selection and development of written materials for use in client education.
|

Provides health information to the public and makes referrals to appropriate agencies.
|
-
Provides consultation to defined at-risk populations.
|
-
Maintains up-to-date records and reports.
|
-
Communicates with public in a professional and empathetic manner.
|

Provides public and businesses with approved information about Washtenaw County isolation and quarantine procedures.
|

Makes appropriate referrals for testing according to protocol and/or to a COVID-19 Care Resource Coordinator for social resources.

Reviews calls, logs, and emails for trends and elevates issues when needed.

Maintains daily contact with supervisor.

Washtenaw County resident preferred. Familiarity with Washtenaw County¿s geography, cities/towns/locations required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
|
Possession of valid Michigan Vehicle Operator¿s license or State issued identification card.
|
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
|
Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials and a video display terminal (computer) screen and hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone.
|

EDUCATION
|
Possession of a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Biology, Public Health, Environmental Health, Communication, or related field.

EXPERIENCE
|

Minimum of two (2) years professional experience communicating with the public.
