JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of a higher classified employee, this position will coordinate, evaluate, develop, and implement professional trainings to help orient new staff to the Community Mental Health department and to assist with the development of clinical staff. This position will work directly with the leadership team of the Performance Improvement program aiding in the advancement of the operations and staff support.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Essential Duties:

  • Under the guidance of the Performance Improvement leadership team and collaborating with Program Administrators, Supervisors, and others as needed, this position will be responsible for developing and prioritizing staff development needs.
  • Coordinates and administers effective clinical orientation and education onboarding for all newly hired clinical employees and other trainings as needed.
  • Provides leadership for the assessment of learning/resource needs and the subsequent establishment of directional goals for staff development for all clinical positions.
  • Coordinates and administers ongoing training needs.
  • Develops course objectives and curricula to meet specific training needs.
  • Selects most appropriate training methods to accomplish course objectives.
  • Conducts training sessions utilizing lectures, role playing, seminars, group discussions and audio-visual presentations.
  • Provides consultation and technical assistance to other trainers.
  • Develops, maintains, and provides accurate documents associated with various trainings.
  • Recommends and initiates changes in training methods and materials to effect improvements.
  • Reviews training courses to determine effectiveness and appropriateness of contents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of care, training, habilitation, and rehabilitation of individuals with intellectual or psychiatric disability.
  • Experience in treating substance use disorders and using motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Considerable interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively, independently, and to communicate effectively in various interactions with employees both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have effective customer service skills.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Candidates must understand behavioral health and psychiatry medical terminology.
  • Experience with and ability to use technology for conducting trainings.
  • Experience with e-learning platforms preferred.
  • Experience with developing curriculum, writing instructional manuals, and conducting trainings.
  • Computer applications related to the work.
  • Business mathematics, including basic statistical analysis techniques.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and evaluating varied information and data.
  • Research, data analysis, and report preparation techniques.
  • Preparing clear, concise, and effective written materials.
  • Maintaining accurate records and files.
  • Correct verbal and written English usage.
  • Standard office practices, including the operation of standard office equipment.
  • Basic budgetary principles and practices.
  • Setting priorities, coordinating multiple projects, and meeting critical deadlines.
  • Using sound, independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Requires possession of a valid Michigan driver's license.
Candidates must have a minimum of LSW, LLP or LPC license (or equivalent).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone. Able to lift 35 pounds. Able to sit and stand for long durations of time.

EDUCATION
Master's degree in counseling, social work, clinical psychology, or other relevant area of education leading to a full license (listed above).
EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience in clinical documentation as well as experience with electronic health records and experience in a Behavioral Health environment. Medicaid guidelines and relevant code of ethics knowledge is required. Experience required should be obtained outside of the requirements needed for the above-mentioned licensing.
