JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of a higher-classified employee, serves as a professional lead worker, coordinating service activities of a designated unit within the department to which assigned. As such, assigns cases, monitors activities and perform similar coordinating functions of a non-supervisory nature. Programs supported by this position include under the Behavioral Health Team/ABA and other Waiver Services direct to department clients.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Essential Duties:

  • Inputting data into the WSA (state data base) for those individuals that are on the CWP, SEDW, waivers/BHT services. Coordinates, monitors and requests clinical documents from provider agencies and WCCMH primary staff.
  • Provides direct services to department customers (children, adolescents and adults as appropriate to assigned unit/program) utilizing treatment or other methods appropriate to the service. Acts as a backup to assist the clinical team when needed.
  • Participates as a team member in the unit/department reviews in order to provide and receive feedback on types of services provided.
  • Represents the agency to the community, other County departments, outside agencies, families of customers, and other interested parties in such a way that an understanding of clients' needs are fostered.
  • Participates in service planning, research, analysis, grant preparation and evaluation of designated unit/program. Assists in development of alternative proposals and identifies objectives related to goal and policy formulation.
  • Prepares and participates in the collection of data and information on services. Prepares various written and statistical information in proper format for presentation. Monitors grant proposals and programs.
  • Will assist in the initial screening phase for individuals receiving/applying for BHT services. Communicates with the primary staff and/or directly with the family as indicated.
  • Provides assistance in the in-service training of other employees. Serves as a resource to other department employees by providing consultation and training.
  • Monitors completion of all testing documentation that is expected in the timelines of the MDHHS requirements. If out of compliance communicates with program administrator and documents in the clinical record, WSA and sends a delay in service to the client/family as indicated.
  • Participates in the planning and presentation of workshops, meetings and conferences. Serves on committees.
  • Maintain individual credentials and participate in education and training as necessary to maintain current competency(s) in skill areas essential for implementing job duties and responsibilities. Minimal annual training hours is 24, with all of these specific to consumer population served.
Important Duties:

  • Enters data into a personal or mainframe computer system. Maintains data bases. Prepares spreadsheets and reports. Prepares information, correspondence and other written materials using word processing software.
  • Uses standard office equipment in the course of the work. May drive a County or personal vehicle in the performance of the work.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Current license in the State of Michigan as a Social Worker--(LLP, LP, LMSW, LPC).
  • Maintain/attain 24 hours annually of child-specific training (Child Diagnostic and Treatment Professional)
  • Possession of a valid Michigan Vehicle Operator's License is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials and a computer monitor and hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone.

EDUCATION
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years relevant experience preferred providing services to children with SED, and/or IDD and ASD.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), Qualified Intellectual Developmental Disability Professional (QIDDP).
  • Experience in a community-based approach to comprehensive services for children and family, extensive experience in crisis/safety assessment and planning with the target population.
