JOB SUMMARY:
|
|
Under the supervision of a higher classified employee, supervises and participates in professional accounting work which requires a thorough knowledge of governmental accounting practices. Develops and maintains a uniform accounting system, disburses and controls grants and other funds, and assists in developing the department¿s budget.
|
Typical Duties:
|
|
1.Supervises the work of Accounting, Accounts/Payable, and Payroll sections.
|
|
2.Develops accounting systems and bookkeeping procedures in accordance with departmental needs and standard governmental accounting practices.
|
|
3.Credits departmental revenues to proper account, controls cash flow and prepares monthly cash transmittal to the Finance Office.
|
|
4.Maintains departmental accounts receivable ledgers, and prepare inter-departmental billings, statements, invoices as necessary.
|
|
5.Maintains departmental accounts payable ledgers, assigns cost classifications, audits invoices received, and authorized payment.
|
|
6.Summarizes and balances account records at months end, and reconciles books to assure agreement of account balances between County and departmental ledgers.
|
|
7.Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
|
|
8.Maintains liaison with other County accounting staff to coordinate transactions, activities, and procedures.
|
|
9.Assists external auditors in locating and interpreting departmental account records.
|
|

Employment Qualifications:
|
|
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in business or accounting.
|
|
Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of professional accounting experience.
|
