JOB SUMMARY:
|
|
Under general supervision, assists in a general service area of the Clerk/Register of Deeds Office assuring its compliance with State statutes, policies and procedures, and assists with other services areas as needed. Assists with program activities and complex and sensitive professional administrative, organizational, and other analysis related to the assigned service area. Provides varied, responsible, and independent secretarial, technical and office administrative assistance to Program Manager of assigned service area and performs related work as assigned. May have programmatic responsibilities and performs professional level and responsible administrative support related to divisional operations.

Service areas include, but are not limited to, Election Administration, Early Voting, Equipment Testing, Campaign Finance Compliance, Constituent Outreach/Services, and Clerk to the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
|
Essential Duties:
|

Works closely with the Program Manager of assigned service area to develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards.
|

Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with primary customers, employees, and the public. Provides direct customer service to the public conducting business in-person or remotely.
|

Assists and performs customer service duties in the areas of Election Administration, Early Voting, Campaign Finance Compliance, Constituent Outreach/Services, Voter Registration, and Passport Issuance.
|

Organizes and maintains voting equipment. Assists with equipment and software management and training. Maintains effective working relationships with equipment vendors and the Michigan Bureau of Elections.

Organizes and maintains various files, locates information as required for the work of the department, tracks the issuance of official documents and manages document retention.
|

Works on department projects, maintains a calendar, transmits information to other departments or to organizations outside of the County, performs a variety of office administrative support work such as processing contracts, arranging for meetings, trainings, and equipment maintenance. Operates standard office equipment and computer systems and software, may be required to drive a county vehicle to various work sites.

Operates voting and election software and hardware.
|

May serve on various committees, task forces, or other County groups as a representative of the department.

Performs other related work as assigned.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
|
|
Specified positions may require possession of a valid Michigan driver's license.
|
|
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
|
|
Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials, and a computer screen and hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in-person or over the phone. Duties require sufficient ability to regularly lift 30+ pounds.
|
|

EDUCATION
|
|
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Two (2) years of college, business or technical school training in the office administrative or information technology fields is desirable.
|
|
EXPERIENCE
|
|
Two (2) years of secretarial, information technology or office administrative experience. Elections interest, knowledge or experience preferred.
|
|
